About The Job

The Digital Assessment Project is one of the IB’s key strategic transformation initiatives focused on transitioning the examinations of the Diploma Programme (DP) and Career-related Programme (CP) from paper based to digital format.

The Communications Associate is based within the School Readiness and Support workstream of the Digital Assessment Project and is responsible for the workstream’s communication plans and operational workstream communication messages, in addition to developing the communication plan and strategic messaging to IB World Schools in English and Spanish or/and French. The Associate will also support the workstream in the development, coordination and implementation of key training materials.

This is a Remote working opportunity requiring travel to the Cardiff office circa 6 times per year for an approximate duration of 3 working days each time. Travel and accommodation will be fully funded, but you must be willing to come to the office when called upon if deemed necessary. Travel will also be required to our European or South American IB Conference circa once per year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a communications strategy and plan for School Readiness and Support workstream: taking into consideration audience requirements, existing communication mechanisms and the need to establish new channels, working closely with the wider IB Communications Team and the workstream members. Develop and monitor various channels for workstream communications, including web, email, newsletters, briefings, and workshops. Monitoring workstream communication performance.
  • Develop high quality, accurate and consistent communications copy and materials: ensuring they meet style and branding standards of IB. Create content for non-specialist audiences ensuring any technical details and information can be understood. Plan and implement a web presence and/or social media presence (if appropriate) taking responsibility for content, monitoring and regular updates. Maintain a consistent language, look and ‘brand’ for the workstreams, in line with IB branding and in full consultation with the wider IB Communications & Marketing team and third-party agencies where required.
  • Develop key training materials for the workstream: partner with the Transformation and Change Manager, the Initiative Communication Manager and workstream members to identify the relevant stakeholder audiences’ training needs, and provide expertise/recommendations to develop training materials. Present training or informative sessions for the IB community in person and virtually at IB events and global IB conferences.


About You

  • Fluency in written and spoken Spanish or/and French in addition to English is essential.
  • Previous experience within a Communications role, ideally within a complex organisation requiring excellent stakeholder management across different disciplines.
  • Excellent written, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to develop high quality, accurate and consistent communications materials, newsletters, leaflets, briefings etc. for non-specialist audiences.
  • Experienced in creating content for websites using a content management system.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience of using Sharepoint and/or Social Media to support communication activities.
