Job description

Localization Engineer

As a Localisation Engineer, you will support the Sales and Operations team with file support and advice, own the research and implementation of technical file engineering solutions, and promote localization best practice in line with ISO standards. You will be the central contact for US timezone teams for all localization engineering topics and will liaise with a variety of stakeholders across the business to ensure the best processes for localization workflows are implemented and followed.

 

The core elements of your role are:

·       Support the Sales and Operations teams by preparing documents for translation and delivery in accordance with client requirements and deadlines

·       Proactively research, design and implement technology solutions

·       Be a central contact for SST timezone teams for all localisation engineering topics

·       Constantly review existing processes to ensure they are up to date

·       Provide client advice on technical localisation best practices, where necessary

·       Work closely with the rest of the Engineering team to share knowledge and solutions

·       Lead workshops to present new solutions and ideas

·       Adhere to our ISO-accredited procedures 



Requirements

Required skills/experience:

  •  At least 3 years’ experience in a technical file support role in the Language Services industry
  •  In-depth knowledge of TMS and CAT tool technologies and Translation Memory Management
  • Advanced knowledge of Regular Expressions
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills
  • Solution-oriented approach
  • Friendly and credible personality who inspires trust
  • Flexibility and a positive ‘can-do’ approach
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and listening skills

Nice to have:

  • Experience with scripting (e.g. VBA, Python)
  • In-depth experience of XTM
  • Experience of memoQ
  • Knowledge of Machine Translation technology
