As a Senior Data Scientist on the Enterprise AI team, your primary focus will be on applying generative AI to achieve significant business outcomes for McGraw Hill. You will join a broader team of data scientists, AI researchers, software developers, and psychometricians who provide technical and scientific leadership for some of our most important strategic efforts companywide. You will help this team deliver cutting-edge data science and/or Artificial Intelligence (DS/AI) solutions, and you will collaborate closely with colleagues across functions like Product, Engineering, Learning Design, and User Experience to help McGraw Hill create and deliver world-class educational experiences.
This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States.
What You'll Do
Plan, execute, and report on generative AI projects of diverse scope independently. Perform research, analysis, and modeling, and present findings to key stakeholders. Check-in with your manager weekly about project progress.
Propose solutions to business problems by tailoring DS/AI concepts/tools/techniques. Learn how to balance multiple projects and revise project plans as circumstances change.
Collaborate with colleagues in other functions to support the creation of compelling learning experiences.
Support and guide junior colleagues.
We're looking for someone with
Doctoral degree (or equivalent) in AI, Data Science, or related field
3+ years of applicable work experience after doctorate
Track record of independently planning, executing, and reporting on AI projects of diverse scope to deliver business value
Demonstrated ability to apply DS/AI knowledge to independently define and resolve problems, including when there is limited information and precedent
Deep understanding of large language model (LLM) principles
Recent focus on generative AI including hands-on experience with applying LLM orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex)
Passion for technology and commitment to staying current on generative AI advancements
Affinity for education
Strong technical communication and collaboration skills
Ability to create scalable and efficient production-level code
Knowledge of R, Python, and SQL

The pay range for this position is between $140,975 - $200,000 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
