Job description

Description

Code Ocean is seeking a Solutions Architect who is curious about solving biotech researchers’ challenges and pain points, and providing solutions to accommodate customer needs, drive successful collaborations and partnerships, and maximize computational research capabilities, with a goal to make science faster.

The Solutions Architect will report to the VP of Customer Success and work collaboratively and closely with other teams. The Customer Success team at Code Ocean is responsible for both post-sales activities and for supporting internal teams such as marketing, sales, product, and R&D. The Solutions Architect will provide both our customers and our organization with scientific and technical support, contributing to enhancing Code Ocean's long-term value through research, content creation, and innovation.

What you’ll do

  • Become a subject matter expert in the features, benefits, and application of Code Ocean to accelerate the advancement of computational research, all while fostering robust, collaborative partnerships with both customers and internal teams.
  • Create solutions for a variety of computational challenges based on your research on our customers’ profiles and industry trends, and the latest technologies. Ensure value and impactful project outcomes through improving existing workflows.
  • Work with customers’ tools, code, and data to deliver best-in-class product demonstrations. Provide creative approaches to program design and explore and recommend ideas that broaden and enrich the content and solutions we provide.
  • Use technical programming skills (Python and R) to create module capsules and tools for customers and advise on best practices for technical and non-technical customers.
  • Help computational research teams manage and organize data using best practices and in-depth understanding of their requirements as well as Code Ocean’s solutions.
  • Collaborate with customers to define use cases and success criteria, driving the technical aspects of engagement with Code Ocean. This includes guiding customers from requirements and design through to implementation, training, delivery, and expansion.
  • Collaborate with the Product and R&D teams to continuously improve Code Ocean’s product and design desired solutions.
  • Partner with marketing on creation of content for awareness, thought leadership, demand generation and sales enablement.
  • Contribute to creating workflow guides, customer facing release notes, and technical guides.
  • 5-20% travel.
  • Hybrid work environment; partly remote, partly office-based.

Requirements

  • Exceptional team player with ability to collaborate, support and influence others in a calm, constructive, and positive manner.
  • Self-starter with the ability to be proactive and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong project management and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrate initiative, take risks, welcome feedback, and show interest in continually optimizing and improving processes and methodologies, while also assisting others in their improvement, regardless of their role.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, and/or Bash.
  • Understanding of AWS cloud computing services.
  • Experienced with computational research, data science, informatics, or DevOps tools
  • Equally comfortable in a business and technical context, interacting with executives and technical audiences
  • Has at least 1 year of experience in a technical customer-facing role (e.g., in sales, customer success, professional services, or functional consulting)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Could be nice, but not required:

  • Proficiency in Docker, Git, and/or Nextflow
  • Bachelor’s or a graduate degree in computational biology, computational chemistry, statistics or related fields.
  • Experience in genomics research or data science.
  • Pharma or Biotech experience.
