Job description

Company Description

With about 20’000 employees worldwide, we are providing assistance to clients in more than 80 locations worldwide. We take pride in being committed to sustainable development and the clean energy transition which protects the environment as well as making good business sense in everything we do.

Job Description

We are currently looking for a Senior Engineer as Head of our Geoengineering Section, who will lead our geotechnical operations in Latin America, directly reporting to the Regional Director of AFRY’s Energy Division.

Requirements of the role:

  • Not less than 10 years of professional experience in the construction/hydroelectric/mining industry, with clear focus on geotechnical and rock mechanical engineering (slope stability, soil improvements, injection works, tunnelling, dam and instrumentation design).
  • Experienced Project Manager. The ideal candidate should excel in setting project goals, managing his/her team, sub-consultants, budgets, timelines and ensuring deliverables to meet high-quality standards.
  • Master’s degree or Doctorate in Civil and/or Geotechnical Engineering.

Below we explain the main skills that we look for:

  • Excellent team working skills. Our work relies heavily on collaboration, so outstanding communication skills and the ability to work well within both project teams and the broader office environment are crucial. This requires excellent organizational discipline, flexibility, and a strong commitment to meeting acquired obligations.
  • Fluency in English and in Spanish. On one hand, our local colleagues and most clients are Spanish speaking, while on the other hand, day-to-day collaboration with other AFRY offices will be in English.
  • Leadership Skills. We are seeking an experienced team leader with a proven track record in managing diverse teams which include geologists, geotechnical and rock mechanics engineers, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Writing and report editing skills. Report writing and presenting in public is a core part of our work, therefore the open position requires the ability to explain complex information in a clear and logical way, both in writing and orally.
