At GrowValley, we recognize that exceptional design is crucial for the growth and expansion of our venture-building studio. We are seeking an experienced and talented Head of Design to join our team and play a pivotal role in leading and managing our design department, overseeing the creation of visually stunning and user-friendly digital products for our various ventures. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in design leadership, enabling them to effectively contribute to the overall business success through the delivery of outstanding design solutions. Your Responsibilities
As our Head of Design, you will:
- Lead and manage our design team, providing strategic direction, mentorship, and support to ensure the delivery of exceptional design solutions across all ventures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to understand user requirements, business goals, and technical constraints, and translate them into actionable design strategies
- Oversee the design process, ensuring the creation of visually appealing, user-friendly, and accessible digital products that align with our brand identity and design principles
- Develop and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including style guides, pattern libraries, and design systems, facilitating knowledge sharing and collaboration within the team
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in design, incorporating them into our products as appropriate
- Foster a culture of innovation, creativity, and continuous learning within the design team, driving professional development and growth
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the design department, using data-driven insights to optimize processes and outcomes
- Advocate for user-centered design principles and champion the needs of end-users throughout the product development process
Requirements
To excel in this role, you should have:
- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in design, with at least 5 years in a leadership role with Startups or SMEs
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field; a relevant portfolio showcasing your work in design leadership is required
- Solid knowledge of design principles, methodologies, and tools, such as Sketch, Figma, or Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience leading design projects across various domains, including UX/UI design, product design, and graphic design
- Experience hiring and managing Design Teams with 5+ people
- Strong understanding of web standards, such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and their impact on design
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex design concepts to diverse team members and stakeholders
- Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
