Job Description: BigR.io is looking for a Synthetic CRISPR-Cas RNP Bioinformaticist with strong Population Genetics experience to review publicly available data sets and direct our client toward effective research paths. The goal is to identify sequence polymorphisms that differentiate the pathogenic from healthy alleles with their relative frequencies in the general population and to develop a therapeutic approach that can selectively target and modify the pathogenic allele without affecting the healthy allele. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing publicly available data from genome-wide association studies and making sure that the published results and estimates are correct.
Responsibilities:
Analyze publicly available data from genome-wide association studies to identify sequence polymorphisms that differentiate the pathogenic from healthy alleles of HTT and ATXN3
Design and develop specific spacers outside of the CAG repeat sequence for the pathogenic alleles of HD and SCA3 using programmable nucleases called Cas enzymes
Develop a therapeutic approach that can selectively target and modify the pathogenic allele without affecting the healthy allele
Work collaboratively with other researchers and developers to optimize the CRISPR-Cas RNP system for the treatment of HD and SCA3
Ensure accuracy of protein and RNA data analysis and interpretation
Document and present findings in scientific meetings and publications
Requirements:
Ph.D. in molecular biology, genetics, or a related field
Strong background in genome editing technologies, particularly CRISPR-Cas systems
Experience in analyzing genomic data from large datasets, including genome-wide association studies
Familiarity with molecular biology techniques, including gene expression analysis, protein and RNA analysis, and cloning
Experience in working with cell culture systems, including primary human cells
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in developing CRISPR-based therapeutics for monogenic disorders
Knowledge of Huntington's Disease and Spinocerebellar Ataxia 3 pathophysiology
Experience in animal models of HD and SCA3
Strong track record of scientific publications and presentations
