JOB OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Azure Administrator to join our IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day administration, monitoring, maintenance, and optimisation of Microsoft Azure cloud environments to ensure performance, availability, and security align with business requirements.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

Manage and maintain Azure infrastructure, including virtual machines, networking, storage, and identity services.
Monitor system performance and ensure high availability of cloud-hosted resources.
Implement and maintain security controls and compliance within the Azure environment.
Troubleshoot and resolve Azure-related incidents and service requests.
Work collaboratively with other IT and development teams to support and deploy Azure-based solutions.
Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions using Azure tools.
Manage Azure Active Directory (AAD), role-based access control (RBAC), and resource policies.
Provide documentation, support, and knowledge transfer to internal teams.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure services (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS).
Proficient in Azure Portal, Azure CLI, and PowerShell scripting.
Understanding of cloud networking concepts, including VPNs, VNets, and NSGs.
Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
Strong grasp of identity and access management, including Azure AD and MFA.
Solid problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology or a related field.
Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or similar.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a systems administration or cloud administration role.
Hands-on experience managing Microsoft Azure environments.
Experience with monitoring, automation, and backup solutions in Azure.

ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS:

Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. ARM templates, Bicep, Terraform).
Exposure to hybrid cloud environments and on-premise integration.
Familiarity with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and containerisation (e.g. AKS).
Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, GDPR, or CIS.
