Job description

As FAIRTIQ continues to grow, so do the technical demands on our platform. Our goal is to provide a seamless, scalable, and resilient foundation that powers delightful user experiences in our mobile apps and backend services. Supporting 1million+ active monthly users and millions of public transport journeys requires solid infrastructure, automation, observability, and system design.
 

You will join our Platform team and work closely with engineers across squads to improve the reliability, scalability, and developer experience of our systems. From self-service automation and observability to infrastructure as code and incident response, the Platform team is responsible for the bedrock that supports all FAIRTIQ engineering efforts.


You will flourish in this role if you:

  • Have a strong grasp of cloud-native architectures and distributed systems;
  • Enjoy solving complex problems that enable other engineers to move faster and safer;
  • Have experience with infrastructure automation (e.g. Terraform), self-service automation, and container orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes, Spacelift, Crossplane);
  • Like thinking in terms of systems, abstractions, and automation;
  • Care deeply about developer experience, service reliability, and scaling best practices;
  • Believe that quality and security are not just requirements, but essential attributes of a sustainable engineering culture;

Role Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain core infrastructure and platform tooling that supports FAIRTIQ’s growing ecosystem;
  • Build self-service automation and deployment strategies across multiple environments (Staging, Production, etc.);
  • Help instrument services for observability using modern tools (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana);
  • Optimize system performance, cost efficiency, and resiliency;
  • Guide engineers on best practices for system design, security, and operations;
  • Support a culture of ownership and incident learning by contributing to incident response and postmortems;
  • Collaborate with mobile, backend, and data teams to ensure platform solutions fit product and engineering needs;

Who we're looking for

  • BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field;
  • At least 4 years of professional experience as a Platform, DevOps, or Infrastructure Engineer;
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms (preferably AWS), containers and orchestration (Kubernetes);
  • Experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools;
  • Comfortable writing clean, maintainable scripts and automation in languages such as Python, Bash, or Go;
  • Solid understanding of networking, Linux internals, and systems performance;
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring stacks (e.g. Grafana, Prometheus, OpenSearch);
  • Proactive, organized, and communicative — you enjoy collaborating across disciplines;
  • Excellent English communication skills;
  • Europe based candidates;

Recruitment Process

  • Screening interview with Pedro (from the People Team): ~45 minutes;
  • Tech Screening & Problem Solving interview: 90 minutes;
  • Use Cases interview: 90 minutes.
