The Role:
As a critical member of our dynamic team, the accountant will manage and oversee all financial transactions and systems. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a multifaceted role and is eager to impact a growing firm's financial and operational strategy.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, and developing internal control policies and procedures.
Manage all Canadian accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, reviewing payroll, and Revenue Recognition.
Lead the implementation of accounting software systems across portfolio companies.
Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
Support month-end and year-end close processes.
Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or master's degree in Accounting.
Professional accounting certification required (CPA).
At least 3-7 years of overall combined accounting experience, with a strong background in Canadian accounting and financial management aspects.
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including the creation of financial statements.
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
Hands-on experience with accounting software packages.
Advanced MS Office skills, particularly with Excel, including data extraction and
financial modeling.
Experience with payroll management.
Proactive, detail-oriented, and a passion for technology and process improvement.
Comfortable working in a start-up environment and managing multiple tasks.
Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
Canadian tax and accounting experience is preferred.
