Our work depends on a Technology Consultant joining our program to serve as a key technical expert for the optimal supportability, maintainability, interoperability, integrity, and security of DHS's Automated Biometric Identification system (IDENT), providing strategic consulting to both OBIM and GDIT leadership in achieving mission and business objectives, and working proactively, collaboratively, and with an entrepreneurial spirit in continual improvement of our O&M support to the customer and their Stakeholder communities.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Assesses and identifies significantly impactful and critical internal and external IT systems needs and requirements to meet business objectives
  • Analyzes and diagnoses significantly impactful and critical IT infrastructures for optimal operability
  • Provides the highest level of partnership and collaboration with the client project teams throughout the entire life-cycle of projects to define, design, and implement business process and outcome based solutions
  • Provides significantly impactful metrics to optimize team delivery and measure business agility in terms of predictability, reliability, and adaptability
  • Provides significantly impactful strategic advice on the design and implementation of  technology solutions to meet business needs
  • Recommends improvements to the processes, procedures, staff, material, and information required to support, maintain, and operate OBIM systems software, applications, databases, and operating systems, including engineering, data management, configuration management, training, survivability, operating environment, protection of critical program information, information technology security, supportability, interoperability, COTS product management, and operational technology refresh.
  • Provides expert guidance and mentorship to program personnel
  • Interfaces directly with OBIM leadership.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Required Experience: 20+ years of related experience, including over 15 years of relevant specialized experience in information technology sector (preferably with large scale information technology and database systems) and 8+ years in leadership/management positions.
  • Required Technical Skills: in-depth knowledge/expertise of IDENT and in executing the DHS Systems Engineering Lifecycle (SELC) or equivalent lifecycle process
  • Security Clearance Level: Public Trust (DHS HQ EOD required to start; must be able to obtain DHS HQ Final Suitability)
  • Required Skills and Abilities:  experience briefing or communicating issues/problems and outcome-based solutions, plans, progress, and results clearly and succinctly to corporate leaders/executives and to Government Senior Executives and senior supervisors/managers; adept at problem-solving, troubleshooting, collaboration, time management, multi-tasking, and task-ownership; excellent oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to explain technology clearly and succinctly to a non-technical audience; ability to synthesize information together from a variety of sources
  • Preferred Skills: in-depth knowledge/expertise of OBIM and of program responsibilities and activities
  • Location: Remote

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $80.20 - $0.00. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
