High-Level Overview
The client is a global leader in renewable energy investment, managing a diverse portfolio across offshore and onshore wind, solar, and other sustainable infrastructure assets. In Mexico, the client is actively expanding its presence through strategic collaborations and initiatives aimed at supporting the country’s transition to clean energy and strengthening its role in global decarbonization efforts.
Project
The client is developing a large-scale solar energy project in Mexico with integrated battery storage, aimed at enhancing grid stability and clean energy delivery. They are seeking a seasoned project finance expert to lead the fundraising process, engaging with major development finance institutions (DFIs), infrastructure funds, and other financial partners. This role is pivotal in securing long-term capital, navigating Mexico’s regulatory and permitting environment, and cultivating strategic relationships with key stakeholders in the energy and finance sectors. All fundraising documentation, including term sheets and negotiations, will be conducted in English.

Key Deliverables
Participate in the finalization of various feasibility reports including the coordination of the financial advisor (e.g. business plan and financial model), to ensure the development and securing of all revenues related to each Project activity, make sure that the reports are ready for submission to lenders
Contribution to the financial structuring of the project with the support of the client investment team
Pitching Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) and other lenders to secure project financing including concessional loans and grants.
Organization and structuring of information to the client for efficient decision making
Leading lender due diligence
Negotiation and documentation of the financing agreements with the support of the client investment team and external advisors
Requirements
Experience Required:
Proven track record in project finance and structured finance for utility-scale renewable energy projects, including solar PV and battery storage
Expertise in negotiating and securing project financing with DFIs and other relevant lenders across the capital stack
Familiarity with non-recourse financing structures, SPVs, and bankability requirements for renewable infrastructure
Ability to negotiate term sheets and lead closing processes
Technical Requirements
Experience preparing and finalising feasibility reports for lenders
Review and negotiation of financing documents (lenders, insurers, sponsors, etc.)
Skilled in creating/validating robust financial models for solar plus storage
Soft Skills
Excellent negotiation and communication skills to effectively interact with lenders, stakeholders and client management team
Have great organizational and coordination skills, rigor, and anticipation of the impacts of activities on the economic and financial balance
Past experience in developing and financing projects in LatAm would be an asset
