WHAT YOU’LL DO

As Visual Designer, you’ll lead the visual execution of land-led design projects across multiple scales — from multi-acre properties and off-grid layouts to detailed backyards, landscapes, and structure placements. Reporting to the VP of Land Development and working closely with the Project Manager, you’ll take rough inputs (voice notes, sketches, videos) and rapidly translate them into drawings, CAD plans, and high-fidelity renderings that bring a project to life. You’ll be responsible for visualizing environments from the ground up — starting with landscape, integrating architectural forms, and tying it all together with visual storytelling that captures the full narrative of a site. The work ranges from terrain modeling and plant layout to rendering a yurt on a hill or shaping the flow of an entire coastal development.

You’ll be required to travel to sites to gather context, absorb spatial cues, and ensure your designs reflect the real-world terrain and environment. This is a fast-paced execution role for someone who thrives in high-context, direction-light environments and can translate ambiguity into clarity through visual output.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Landscape-Led Thinker: You start with the land — terrain, flow, vegetation, and rhythm — and design everything else to fit the environment, not override it.
  • Multidisciplinary Executor: You’re fluent across landscape, architecture, and interiors — not as separate disciplines but as parts of a coherent spatial vision.
  • Visual Communicator: You sketch, draft, and render with speed and clarity. Your work speaks for itself — concept to CAD to render without losing fidelity or intent.
  • Fast, Iterative Designer: You’re comfortable with rough input, nonlinear feedback, and fast-turn requests. You move forward with what’s given and improve along the way.
  • Technically Sharp: You know your toolstack and move between AutoCAD, Rhino, Twinmotion, Blender, or Unreal like they’re second nature. You bring efficiency, not friction.
  • System-Oriented: You don’t reinvent the wheel every time. You use templates, libraries, and systems to stay fast and consistent.
  • Detail-Driven: You care about how the sunlight hits the terrain at 4PM and whether that yurt is angled just right to catch the breeze. Your visuals reflect lived-in thinking.
  • Founder-Ready: You’ve worked with founders or senior leaders before. You know what it means to be flexible, responsive, and always moving forward.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce sketches, CAD drawings, and 3D renderings that visualize full sites — from raw land to structured environments with architecture and landscape integration
  • Lead visual execution across projects, translating raw inputs (videos, notes, pictures) into renderings that communicate vision and intent
  • Design environments at multiple scales — large land developments, mid-sized sites, and small installations like decks, yards, and cabins
  • Collaborate with the VP of Land Development and Project Manager to ensure design output aligns with spatial, functional, and visual goals
  • Travel to project sites to gather firsthand input, absorb the environment, and ensure visual accuracy and spatial coherence
  • Own the toolstack and maintain fast, consistent workflows using templates, block libraries, and 3D assets
  • Support investor and internal communications through presentation-ready visuals, site maps, and vision decks
  • Iterate quickly based on fast feedback cycles from founder and project leads
  • Integrate architecture and simple structure design into larger environmental layouts with care and clarity

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating landscape-first work, with integrated architectural and spatial design
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino, Twinmotion, Blender, Unreal Engine, or similar tools — and ability to use them fluidly across a project lifecycle
  • Clear examples of work across multiple scales — from master plans to detailed scenes
  • Experience designing or visualizing off-grid, natural, or remote projects
  • Demonstrated ability to go from loose idea to finished render independently
  • Proven experience working with founders or senior stakeholders in high-speed, evolving environments
  • Strong visual storytelling instincts — your visuals do more than show, they convince
  • A preference for full-time work, but open to contract if you can work on founder-aligned timelines
