About the Company:

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented, strategic, and self-motivated Head of Finance to lead the financial operations of a high-growth ecommerce company. This role is equal parts financial strategist and operational problem solver. You'll work closely with leadership, operations, and vendors to shape the companys financial direction, manage cash flow, and support growth with data-driven insights. Strong communication skills and comfort working closely with leadership are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Leadership & Communication:

  • Serve as the go-to for all finance-related queries across the business.
  • Provide financial guidance to functional leaders.
  • Establish clear, remote-friendly communication protocols around financial processes.
  • Internal financial education is a nice to have but not required.

Financial Management & Strategy:

  • Build and manage financial models and forecasts.
  • Oversee cash flow and scenario planning.
  • Analyze inventory and COGS forecasts.
  • Develop and present actionable financial reports to leadership.
  • Track and interpret ecommerce-specific financial metrics.

Operations & Process Management:

  • Manage AP, purchase orders, and vendor payments.
  • Monitor and report on BOM costs and shipping expenses.
  • Partner with operations to streamline financial workflows.
  • Implement and maintain strong internal financial controls.

Team & Vendor Oversight:

  • Coordinate with outsourced bookkeeping providers.
  • Lead month-end close in partnership with external accountants.
  • Manage sales tax compliance (e.g., through Numeral).
  • Maintain strong cross-functional partnerships, especially with operations.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Maintain a cadence of weekly/monthly financial reports.
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses to inform business decisions.
  • Monitor financial KPIs and operational variances (e.g., shipping deltas).
  • Prepare special reports for leadership on request.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of progressive experience in finance or FP&A.
  • Strong experience in ecommerce finance (e.g., COGS, inventory, shipping metrics).
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Experience managing outsourced vendors and bookkeeping partners.
  • Excellent communication skills; comfortable working cross-functionally and directly with leadership.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a remote environment.


Nice-to-Haves:

  • MBA or CPA certification.
  • Experience in a D2C or ecommerce startup.
  • Familiarity with BOM tracking and ecommerce reporting tools.
  • QuickBooks Online proficiency.
  • Experience managing remote team communication and reporting workflows.
