We are specifically recruiting from the following regions to ensure that this council represents the perspectives and lived experiences of youth from across Oregon.

We are seeking applicants from the following districts:

  • Southwest Oregon: Camas Valley, Days Creek, Elkton, Glendale, Glide, N. Douglas, Oakland, Riddle, Roseburg, S. Umpqua, Sutherlin, Winston-Dillard, Yoncalla

  • Central-Eastern Oregon: Dayville, John Day, Long Creek, Monument, Prairie City

  • Southeast Oregon: Burns, Crane, Diamond, Double O, Drewsey, Frenchglen, Harney County Union High, Pine Creek, South Harney, Suntex

  • Central Oregon: Ashwood, Black Butte, Culver, Jefferson City

  • South Central Oregon: Adel,  Lake County, N. Lake, Paisley, Plush

  • Northeast Oregon: Enterprise, Joseph, Troy, Wallowa
     

The YAC is open to youth ages 14-18 from across the state who are passionate about leadership and interested in how youth perspectives can influence state education programs. Our goal is to give youth the opportunity to have a voice in shaping and implementing important educational initiatives

As a member of this inaugural class of youth leaders, YAC members will:

  • Work with the Oregon Department of Education to provide youth voice and input in policy making.

  • Connect with other youth and student leaders from across the state.

  • Lead the development and evaluation of current youth leadership and engagement programs.

YAC Member’s term of service is one year. Monthly meetings will be held virtually in the evenings, and we are thrilled to offer compensation to members for their service.
