Role Name: Senior Bookkeeper - Canadian Tax Specialist

Schedule:

  • Fixed Schedule 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM Toronto Time, Monday-Friday

Client Timezone: Eastern Time (Toronto)


Join a dynamic corporate finance firm as a remote bookkeeper where you'll play a crucial role in managing financial records and ensuring tax compliance. This position offers the opportunity to work with a relationship-driven business, handling both catch-up bookkeeping projects and ongoing maintenance. You'll be instrumental in establishing and maintaining organized financial records while working directly with the business owner. This role provides excellent exposure to Canadian tax regulations and business expense management, making it ideal for a detail-oriented professional looking to grow their expertise.


Scope:

  • 4 hours per day (9 AM - 1 PM Eastern Time)

  • Monday through Friday schedule

  • Initial period requires intensive catch-up work (2-3 weeks)

  • Ongoing maintenance approximately 1-4 hours per week

  • Remote position with digital document handling

  • Multiple company books to maintain

  • Monthly reporting requirements

  • Direct communication with business owner

Responsibilities:

  • Process and organize business receipts and expenses in QuickBooks

  • Enter and categorize various business development expenses (meals, travel, mileage)

  • Prepare monthly GST calculations and reports

  • Manage accounts and create monthly financial reports

  • Handle catch-up bookkeeping for 2023-2024 fiscal years

  • Organize and maintain digital copies of receipts and financial documents

  • Track and reconcile business expenses across multiple companies

  • Prepare documentation for corporate tax filings




Requirements
  • 2-3 years minimum bookkeeping experience

  • Proficiency with QuickBooks

  • Knowledge of Canadian tax regulations and CRA requirements

  • Understanding of GST calculations and reporting

  • Experience with business expense categorization

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Excellent digital document management capabilities

  • Professional English communication skills
