Koinonia is a state-licensed, non-profit public service organization serving communities across California and Nevada. We exist to bring hope and healing to foster youth and families through meaningful relationships and quality programs and services. We guide families through the approval process and equip them with the tools they need to care for foster children. We provide in-home support as well as mental health services. The goal is always to reunite the foster children with their family of origin. In some cases, a short-term placement turns into a long-term placement, sometimes taking the path towards adoption. We navigate this process with our families and we also work with parents interested in private adoption.“Koinonia” (Koy-no-nee’-ah) is a Greek word which means “fellowship.” It carries with it the meaning of a committed, trustworthy and dependable relationship. It is this “koinonia” relationship that has made the difference in the lives of thousands of foster children over the past 40 years.
