Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper to take ownership of financial operations across two interconnected yet distinct business entities. You’ll work directly with the business owners to streamline existing processes, implement improved financial controls, and maintain accurate records in a growing business environment. This role offers the perfect blend of routine bookkeeping responsibilities and process improvement initiatives, with real potential to expand hours and responsibilities as the relationship develops. You’ll have the opportunity to make a significant impact by introducing efficiencies and maintaining financial accuracy while supporting the continued growth of both operations.

Responsibilities
  • Execute comprehensive bookkeeping functions within Xero for both business entities
  • Process and reconcile daily sales data, ensuring accuracy between POS systems and accounting software
  • Manage regular financial tasks including batch payments, payroll processing, and superannuation payments
  • Perform systematic review and cleanup of existing financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Handle bank reconciliations and transaction coding with meticulous attention to detail
  • Support quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline financial operations
  • Maintain organized documentation and audit-ready financial records
  • Collaborate directly with business owners to optimize financial workflows
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of demonstrated bookkeeping experience, with 5+ years preferred
  • Expert-level proficiency in Xero accounting software
  • Proven experience working with POS systems and sales reporting integration
  • Strong track record managing financial operations for multiple business entities
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining transparent communication
  • Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements
  • Experience in food service or wholesale industry financial management (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and compliance requirements (preferred)
