Responsibilities
  • Spearhead the daily processing and submission of insurance claims using our state-of-the-art EMR system, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Conduct thorough insurance eligibility verifications for new patients, setting the foundation for smooth billing processes
  • Apply your expertise in medical coding to accurately code behavioral health services, maintaining compliance and maximizing reimbursements
  • Create and maintain comprehensive workflow sheets to guide proper claim coding, contributing to the clinic’s efficiency
  • Take ownership of denied claims, conducting follow-ups and resolving issues with insurance companies to optimize revenue cycle
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure all necessary documentation is complete and accurate for billing purposes
  • Adapt to the clinic’s growing needs by assisting with additional administrative tasks as they arise
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations in all aspects of your work
Requirements
  • 3+ years of proven experience in medical billing and coding, with a preference for background in behavioral health or related fields
  • Proficiency in EMR systems and ability to quickly adapt to new software, particularly Simple Practice
  • Exceptional attention to detail and data entry accuracy, crucial for maintaining billing integrity
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • In-depth knowledge of HIPAA compliance and unwavering commitment to patient confidentiality
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with insurance companies and internal team members
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a remote setting
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and take on additional responsibilities as the clinic expands
  • Comfortable working in Pacific Time Zone to align with clinic operations
