Overview

The BCBA Treatment Plan Reviewer is responsible for reviewing treatment plan reports, progress summaries, and related clinical documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance, and clinical integrity. This position supports clinicians in maintaining high standards aligned with funding source requirements, organizational guidelines, and ethical standards of care. The reviewer provides feedback, coaching, and technical guidance to improve report quality and uphold documentation excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review initial assessments, treatment plans, reauthorizations, and progress reports for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with payer guidelines (e.g., Medicaid, commercial insurance) via EAS established rubrics and forms.
  • Ensure reports include clinically sound goals, objective data summaries, and functional rationales
  • Check for alignment between assessment data, treatment recommendations, and selected goals
  • Provide structured written feedback to BCBAs, including suggestions for strengthening clinical language, goal quality, and formatting
  • Conduct individualized review and 1:1 coaching when treatment plans fidelity scores fall below 70%
  • Track common documentation errors and assist with training initiatives based on trends observed
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance and Clinical Excellence teams to support ongoing improvement in documentation practices
  • Maintain knowledge of updates to funding source requirements and BACB standards
  • Participate in report audit cycles and support timely submission of documentation to meet authorization timelines
Qualifications
  • Active BCBA certification 
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a BCBA 
  • Minimum 2 years experience giving feedback to fellow BCBAs
  • Strong understanding of treatment planning, data-based decision-making, and ethical documentation
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail
  • Experience with electronic health record systems such as CentralReach or similar (preferred)
  • Ability to provide constructive, supportive feedback to clinical teams
  • Experience conducting internal audits or clinical documentation review
  • Ability to identify training needs based on documentation trends
