TITLE: EMEA Research Fellow

DEPARTMENT: Product; Research

REPORTS TO: Sr Director, Research 

LOCATION: United Kingdom, Remote

HRLY RATE:  $28.85 per hr 

 

SUMMARY OF TEAM: 

Catalyst research is the foundation of all our solutions for creating equitable workplaces. We examine today’s work environments and employees’ experiences in them using a rigorous and innovative research approach. We use fact-based, scientific methods—including survey data from across the globe and large-scale field studies—to explore barriers and measure success. We deliver primary and secondary research, tools, and knowledge products in three main areas: attract, retain, & advance women from the frontline to the c-suite, allyship & advocacy to close gender gaps, and create inclusive cultures and support wellbeing

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:  

The part-time Research Fellow supports the research team in maintaining and delivering rigorous research reports and tools with a global lens and a specific focus on the EMEA region. In this role, they will stay informed on the most recent and relevant news, research, policy developments, and trends in diversity, equity, and inclusion, contributing to Catalyst’s efforts to advance inclusive workplaces worldwide. 

The Research Fellow contributes to project-team activities, including conducting in-depth literature reviews; examining global and region-specific trends; and participating in the development and execution of research projects. They may also assist in contextualizing findings for diverse cultural and organizational settings, contribute to the development of presentation materials and insights tailored for regional stakeholders, and support Catalyst’s strategic growth initiatives by surfacing emerging issues and opportunities within EMEA markets.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Conducts in-depth literature reviews: annotates and summarizes articles; organizes literature thematically, drawing out important trends; and presents findings to the Research team and/or others at Catalyst.
  • Monitors relevant diversity, equity, and inclusion-related policy changes, organizational practices, and demographic data in key EMEA markets.
  • Manages and cleans databases and tracking systems.
  • Supports fact-checking of research publications, verifying literature citations and ensuring statistical integrity.
  • May participate in developing, testing, and administering of surveys and/or other instruments.
  • Drafts sections of reports and/or working papers as well as presentation materials for
  • Assists Research team with project work, as available and applicable.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 

  • This position requires a M.A. or M.S. (or equivalent), preferably in social science, career development, social work, psychology, business, or public administration/public policy. Doctoral students and post-doctoral candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience in applied social science research; has considerable experience with conducting literature reviews and academic writing. 
  • Proficiency with predictive analytic techniques.
  • Experience with SPSS a must.
  • Knowledge of other statistical packages such as R or Python is advantageous.
  • Organizes information effectively; can manage multiple projects, solve problems, and meet firm deadlines. 
  • Expertise in equity and inclusion, inclusive work cultures, future of work, gender and race in the workplace, or other applied social science background is a plus.
  • Has the ability and flexibility to work effectively with colleagues across various departments and job levels.
  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Functions effectively in a team-based virtual working environment as well as independently.
