Job description

This is a remote position.

Schedule:

  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday, 8AM to 5PM Scottsdale, AZ 
  • Includes a 1-hour unpaid break.

This role goes beyond strategy—it requires hands-on execution. You will work closely with leadership, delivering the financial insights needed to drive key business decisions.

What we’re looking for:

  • We need a new Accountant!
  • Controllers need to understand accounting principles, be knowledgeable in Percentage of
  • Completion Accrual Accounting Methods, Quickbooks Software, answer client questions, help
    troubleshoot problems, and guide the client in financial strategy.
  • They should be able to do payroll journal entries, create amortization schedules, set-up budgets, and be knowledgeable in
    excel.
  • This unique mix of right brain (client relationship building and management) and left brain (numerical, problem solving, and data analysis) skills make Accountants exceptional people.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • High-level strategy contribution to detailed bookkeeping
  • Managing overhead costs, fixed costs, balance sheets, AP, and draw packages
  • Hands-on QuickBooks work, reviewing financial reports, and ensuring accuracy
  • Supporting the leadership team by providing clear, actionable financial data
  • Keeping financial operations smooth and compliant with GAAP & tax regulations


Requirements

The ideal candidate:

● Quickbooks: Experience with Quickbooks is required.
● Construction Accounting: Experience with Percentage of Completion is required.
● Bachelor's degree in Accounting or 5 - 7 years of related experience
● CPA: CPA or pursuing CPA is preferred
● Accounting Knowledge: Your main job is understanding a balance sheet and income statement, allocating all expenses and income into the right categories. Asking questions if unknown on how to categorize.
● Client management: The core of your job is relationship building. You need to be a person that cares deeply about helping small businesses succeed. That means managing expectations, being clear in your communication, and being willing to coach clients. You also need to be comfortable with challenging conversations and can diffuse tense situations and the foresight to navigate around potential pitfalls.
● Problem solving: The cardinal sin at our company is asking someone a question you could have solved yourself. We need people who are willing to “figure it out” and don’t mind rolling up their sleeves. That doesn’t mean we aren’t here to support you, we are. But only when you encounter a problem that you truly can’t solve. You’re expected to bring more to the table than expected and hurdle problems, not allow them to get in your way.
  • 8+ years in accounting & finance, 3+ years in leadership
  • Real estate & construction accounting experience (MUST)
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting
  • Hands-on experience with QuickBooks & financial analysis
  • Someone who can deliver results—your work will be reviewed and presented to leadership.
