Internship Overview

We are seeking a genetic counseling intern who is motivated to support patients through their reproductive journey. This internship is a great opportunity to work in Vitrolife Group's genetic counseling department alongside Genetic Counseling Assistants (GCA) and Genetic Counselors (GC). This unpaid internship is a 6-month minimum, 15-20 hours/week obligation. Advancement to a paid, full time GCA position can be considered, depending on interest, performance, and job availability. Interns have opportunities for mentorship from GCAs and GCs as well as patient shadowing experiences.

Responsibilities

Support genetic counseling services to patients for the genetic tests offered by Vitrolife Grecially for preimplantation genetic testing for monogenic disorders (PGT-M) and preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A). Help coordinate the genetic testing process among genetic counselors, laboratory locations, and administrators within Vitrolife Group. Facilitate communication between Vitrolife Group Genetic Counselors and our client health care providers. Additional opportunities can be provided depending on interest and performance.

Requirements

  • Superior writing ability, attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently, and also excellent skills in teamworking and collaboration.
  • Interest in a career path in genetic counseling and/or infertility/ART
  • Proficiency with Microsoft, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field preferred
  • Preferred commitment is at least 6 months, 15-25 unpaid hours/week.
