Role Overview:
We’re seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to support and manage payroll operations for a growing construction company based in California. This role will work closely with our current finance team member who handles job costing and check processing through QuickBooks. We’re looking for someone familiar with California labor laws, workers' compensation policies, and ideally, someone who can own and streamline the entire payroll process—from input to delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing through QuickBooks and integrated plugins (e.g., Deluxe/eDeluxe)
  • Ensure compliance with California labor codes, payroll tax regulations, and workers' comp policies
  • Enter and maintain accurate employee records, including Social Security numbers and payment details
  • Process payroll bi-weekly or monthly, based on current schedule
  • Coordinate with internal team (e.g., Faith) to receive finalized job costing and payment data
  • Serve as the point person for payroll-related inquiries and audits
  • Optionally assist in payroll setup and improvements using GoHighLevel (if experienced)

Requirements

  • Proven experience running payroll in California, preferably within the construction industry
  • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Payroll and related plugins
  • Familiarity with California-specific labor laws and workers’ compensation policies
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with team members

Bonus: Experience with GoHighLevel is a strong plus

  • Client Relationship : You will be directly working with the client. This means that you will communicate with the client, provide services, and address any client-related matters independently.
  • Payments : All payments for your services will be handled by the client. Elevate and Delegate is not involved in processing your payroll. Your salary will directly go to you. 
  • Vacation Leaves and Holidays : While we may have recommendations or guidelines regarding vacation leaves and holidays, the decision is entirely at the discretion of the client. You are expected to align your schedule with the client’s business needs and any specific policies or preferences they may have in this regard. 

Salary : $1000-$1600month
