Job Summary:
The AR Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring accurate payment tracking, resolving billing discrepancies, and managing denials. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical billing and be familiar with insurance claims processing, denials management, and payment posting.
Key Responsibilities:
Payment Processing:Accurately post payments from insurance companies and patients into the billing system.
Denials Management:Identify, review, and resolve claim denials or discrepancies, working closely with payers as needed.
AR Reporting:Prepare and maintain detailed AR reports to track outstanding balances, payment trends, and resolution progress.
Reconciliation:Reconcile daily, weekly, and monthly payment records to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
Follow-Up:Proactively follow up on unpaid or partially paid claims, escalating issues when necessary.
Communication:Collaborate with the billing team to ensure all claims are submitted and processed in a timely manner.
Compliance:Maintain strict adherence to healthcare billing regulations, confidentiality standards, and HIPAA guidelines.
Requirements
Experience:Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, preferably in urgent care or similar settings.
Technical Skills:Proficiency in medical billing software, EHR/EMR systems, and Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge:Strong understanding of insurance claim processes, AR management, and denials resolution.
Attention to Detail:Exceptional accuracy in data entry and reporting.
Communication Skills:Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal teams and external payers.
Problem-Solving:Ability to analyze and resolve billing and payment discrepancies efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications, not required:
Certification in medical billing or coding (e.g., CPC, CPB).
Experience working with urgent care billing systems.
Familiarity with payer-specific guidelines and denial codes.
