Mondays to Fridays, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM Bahamas/Tampa FL, USA, Eastern Time, 20 hours per week or 4 hours per day
Responsibilities:
Prepare and file trade mark applications, renewals, assignments, and amendments with the Bahamas Intellectual Property Office (BIPO)
Monitor trade mark deadlines and ensure timely filings and renewals
Maintain accurate trade mark records and databases, tracking all applications and registrations
Liaise with the Registrar General’s Department and other relevant authorities on trade mark-related matters
Conduct preliminary trade mark searches and provide basic assessments of availability for registration
Draft standard correspondence related to trade mark filings, including acknowledgments, notices, and reports to clients
Assist attorneys in preparing responses to official actions, objections, or office requirements
Coordinate with clients regarding necessary documents, filing requirements, and status updates
Ensure compliance with Bahamian trade mark laws and assist in updating internal policies as needed
Provide administrative support to the Intellectual Property (IP) team, including file management and docketing
Requirements
Minimum 2+ years of experience in trade mark filings, intellectual property, or a legal support role.
Strong organizational and attention to detail skills to manage multiple filings and deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal document management systems.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced legal environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for liaising with clients, attorneys, and government agencies.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Mandatory)
Prior experience in an IP law firm or corporate legal department handling trade mark matters.
Knowledge of trade mark opposition and enforcement procedures in The Bahamas.
Experience with trade mark docketing software.
