Job description

This is a remote position.

About the our client:
We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to music education and performance for youth in the Birmingham area. We're seeking a detail-oriented and dependable part-time Bookkeeper to help manage our day-to-day financial operations and support the overall financial health of
the organization.

Schedule:
  • 10 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday, flexible between 9AM to 5PM Birmingham, AL
  • Ideally 2 hours per day
Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using QuickBooks and Xero

  • Record financial transactions including income, expenses, and payments

  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements on a monthly basis

  • Prepare basic financial reports for review by leadership

  • Track categorized income and expenses for reporting purposes

  • Assist with budgeting and annual financial reviews

  • Provide support during annual audits and tax preparation

  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial standards and procedures

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper, preferably in a nonprofit environment

  • Proficiency with both QuickBooks and Xero accounting platforms

  • Strong grasp of accounting principles and financial reporting

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality

  • Good communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with donor tracking or nonprofit accounting practices

  • Familiarity with nonprofit compliance and reporting standards
