This is a remote position.
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable AP Geography Teacher to teach AP Human Geography and general Geography courses to high school students. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of both Physical Geography and Human Geography, and the ability to create engaging, interactive lessons in a virtual classroom environment. You will help students develop critical thinking skills, deepen their geographic knowledge, and prepare them for the AP Human Geography exam.
As an AP Geography Teacher, you will provide structured lessons, lead engaging discussions, and foster a learning environment that challenges students to think analytically about the world around them.
Conduct Live Online Classes – Deliver live, interactive lessons on Physical Geography (landforms, climate, ecosystems) and Human Geography (population, culture, urbanization, political geography, globalization).
Develop Course Content – Create lesson plans, presentations, and interactive activities that align with the AP Human Geography curriculum and the broader geography field.
Prepare Students for AP Exam – Guide students through exam preparation, including practice questions, study sessions, and exam-taking strategies.
Encourage Critical Thinking – Promote inquiry-based learning, spatial analysis, and the application of geographic models to understand real-world issues.
Assess Student Progress – Evaluate student performance, provide constructive feedback, and support students’ academic growth.
Adapt Lessons to Student Needs – Tailor lessons to different learning styles, paces, and levels to ensure all students grasp key concepts.
Maintain Communication – Collaborate with students and their families to monitor progress and address challenges. Provide regular updates and recommendations for improvement.
Stay Updated – Keep current with AP curriculum changes, new teaching methods, and best practices for delivering geography instruction.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geography, Social Studies, Education, or a related field.
Certification in AP Human Geography or College Board training (preferred but not mandatory).
Strong foundation in both Physical Geography (climate, ecosystems, landforms) and Human Geography (population, urbanization, political geography).
Minimum 2+ years of prior experience teaching AP Human Geography or similar geography courses at the high school level.
Expertise in both Physical Geography and Human Geography.
Familiarity with the AP Human Geography exam format and strategies for preparing students for both multiple-choice questions and free-response questions (FRQs).
Ability to engage students in meaningful discussions, case studies, and real-world applications of geographic knowledge.
Strong classroom management skills, both in-person and virtually.
Excellent communication skills to explain complex geographic concepts clearly.
Proficiency in using online teaching tools and learning management systems (e.g., Google Classroom, Zoom, interactive whiteboards).
Proficiency in using digital tools such as Google Slides, Zoom, and interactive whiteboards.
Proficiency in using Zoom for live teaching and interactive sessions.
A reliable internet connection and professional teaching setup for virtual classes.
