Adjunct Faculty -Remote-Master's of Art in Teaching (MAT)

Position Overview:

Adjunct faculty within the University of Massachusetts Global’s School of Education plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, student-centered instruction in an online learning environment. They bring real-world expertise and a commitment to fostering academic excellence for future educators and leaders. Adjunct instructors must be willing to engage with faculty, students, and other stakeholders to ensure well-rounded, rigorous learning experiences that offer students the highest levels of support. This position requires a terminal/doctoral degree from an accredited institution in the area of teaching, education, or another related field. Additionally, this position requires recent Pk-12 experience in public schools with diverse student populations, preferably in California.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility 1: Teaching duties, mentoring, or supervising students.
  • Responsibility 2: Delivering course content and using integrated rubrics and other course materials.
  • Responsibility 3: Collaborating with faculty or staff for curriculum planning.
  • Responsibility 4: Utilizing specific technologies or tools (e.g., LMS, video platforms).
  • Responsibility 5: Attending required meetings, training, or development sessions.
  • Responsibility 6: Issuing substantive, individualized feedback in a timely manner (within 7 days).
  • Responsibility 7: Upholding academic integrity, including that of GAI use.
  • Responsibility 8: Holding weekly open office hours and recording/posting weekly introduction videos.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctoral or terminal degree in education or an educational related field.
  • 5-7 years recent classroom and/or administration experience.
  • 3-5 years experience with educational technology.
  • 3-5 years experience in Action Research.
  • 3 to 5 years Online Teaching Experience.
  • 7-10 years overall teaching/education experience.
  • Commitment to supporting diverse learners.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Online teaching experience.
  • Brightspace (LMS) teaching experience.
  • Experience with problems of practice in education.
  • Experience with policies and law in education.
  • Experience with inequities, injustices, and challenges in education.

Work Environment:

A remote adjunct work environment is a flexible, virtual setting where instructors deliver course content, engage with students, and fulfill academic responsibilities from a remote location. This environment typically relies on digital communication tools, learning management systems (LMS), and virtual collaboration platforms to facilitate teaching and interaction

Compensation:

The following salary range reflects compensation paid for a 3-unit course (101.25 hours) and varies based on the faculty member’s course assignment (see the Adjunct Compensation Policy for details including varying credit levels):

3-unit Lecture Course: The hiring range for this position is $3456.00 to $3856.00. Offers are determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to; geographical location, knowledge, skills, and experience.
