Description

Health Information Alliance (HIA) is seeking a Remote CARES,  (Cardiac Arrest Registrar) PRN

  • This is a Subcontractor Position (1099)
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 15 - 20 Hours/Per Week on a consistent basis.
  • 100% Remote position
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years experience and is currently working on CARES.

CARES, the Cardiac Arrest Registry to Enhance Survival, was established by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to improve survival from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) in the United States. CARES is entering cardiac arrest data from EMS agencies and hospitals into a national database in order to track their performance confidentially over time and improve the quality of patient care—and ultimately prevent needless deaths.

 

CARES contributes to one of the largest EMS registries in the world, and one of the few that also includes patient outcome information from hospitals. Those features enable CARES data to be used to conduct vital research that furthers our knowledge of cardiac arrest treatment and saves countless lives for years to come.

 

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Data Collection:
    • Extract data from various sources, including 911 call centers, EMS agencies, and hospitals. 
    • Abstract demographic information, circumstances of cardiac arrest, resuscitation-specific data, emergency department, and hospital data. 
    • Ensure accurate and complete data entry into the registry. 
    • Participate in data validation and quality control processes. 
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Analyze registry data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement in OHCA care. 
    • Generate reports and presentations to stakeholders, including EMS agencies, hospitals, and community leaders. 
    • Participate in research projects related to cardiac arrest and resuscitation.

  • Quality Improvement:
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement quality improvement initiatives based on registry data.
    • Provide technical assistance to communities to improve EMS performance. 
    • Support the development and implementation of evidence-based guidelines for OHCA care. 
    • Maintain and update the registry database. 

Skills and Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., public health, epidemiology, health informatics) or equivalent experience. 

General Requirements:

The ideal candidate must possess the following characteristics:

  • Commitment and reliability; be able to dedicate consistent time to HIA
  • Superb communication and responsiveness
    Computer literacy
    • Must be comfortable with, but not limited to: Excel, web-browsers, email, electronic health records (non-specific)
    • Must be familiar with various technologies such as, but not limited to: Epic, Oncology, security (e.g., Citrix), data collection/abstraction, encoders, web-based applications
  • Self-maintenance of skillset
    • Maintaining credentials
    • Staying current with abstraction/coding rules, manuals, and guidelines
  • Must have prior experience in position applying for
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of current experience in CARES
  • Motivation; remote work can be team-based, but requires the ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal skills and tactfulness to be able to effectively communicate with team members and client contacts
  • May require Background and Drug Screening

This position is for a Subcontractor (1099), who is willing to work 15 - 20 hours per week on a regular basis.  

This is a Remote – PRN Position (Subcontractor 1099)
