English Tutor (A-Level Focus)

We are seeking an experienced English Language Tutor to prepare a student for the IGCSE exam and support their potential entry into Westminster School. This role goes beyond traditional teaching and includes curriculum development, personalized lesson plans, and fostering a growth-oriented learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• IGCSE Excellence: Ensure the student achieves a high A-Level score in IGCSE English, building a strong foundation for future success.
• Skill Mastery: Support independent skill development with measurable improvements in English competency.
• Curriculum Development: Design and adapt an IGCSE-focused curriculum tailored to the student’s needs.
• Lesson Delivery: Provide engaging, well-structured lessons using diverse teaching methods for consistent progress.
• Feedback & Adjustments: Offer actionable feedback and regularly adjust learning plans based on assessments.
• Collaborative Strategy: Work with the Head of Education and Pedagogical Councils to refine learning strategies.
• Student Motivation: Foster a growth mindset, encouraging resilience and maintaining enthusiasm for learning.
• Data-Driven Decisions: Use performance data to monitor progress and refine teaching approaches.
• Test Preparation: Implement effective exam strategies for time management, question analysis, and writing skills.
• Personalized Adaptation: Customize teaching methods to align with the student’s strengths and learning pace.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus).
• Proven experience in tutoring or teaching English at the secondary level, with a track record of helping students achieve high academic results.
• Strong understanding of IGCSE and A-Level English curricula and exam requirements.
• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback.
• Experience with personalized lesson planning and adapting teaching methods to individual student needs.
• Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and able to inspire students to achieve their highest potential.
• Ability to work collaboratively with educators, parents, and other stakeholders to develop a comprehensive academic strategy.
