Job description

The Engagement & Advocacy Specialist supports the development and implementation of Brightpoint's state and federal advocacy strategies. Develops and implements strategies to increase participant engagement in Brightpoint’s programs in order to actively inform, advise, and influence Brightpoint’s services and public policy agenda. Assists in research, analysis, and advocacy efforts.

Candidate qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of experience in public policy, advocacy, or a related field required; OR Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Social Work, or a related field with a minimum of 1 year of experience in public policy, advocacy, or a related field required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience in participant engagement preferred.
  • Lived experience as a participant in a program similar to those offered by Brightpoint or other human services organizations preferred.
  • Experience working in a non-profit organization or human services setting preferred.
  • Experience in public speaking and facilitating meetings preferred.
  • Access to transit or other reliable transportation to execute the position's responsibilities required.

    Job details:

    • Compensation: Hourly Range: $25-$27 per hour; offers are commensurate with experience. The salary range provided represents our current estimate for this role at the time of posting and is subject to change. The final salary will be determined based on a range of factors, including but not limited to, a candidate's relevant experience, education, qualifications, skills, certifications, and alignment with organizational needs.     • Benefits: Medical/dental/vision insurance, 3+ weeks paid time off in the first year including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day (PTO increases with tenure); 11 paid holidays, supplemental insurance options, 401(k) with match (more benefits details here).
    • Location: Must be within reasonable driving distance to Chicago and available to work from home office at 200 West Monroe Street (downtown Chicago loop). 
    • Schedule: Full-time, hourly; regular business hours with remote flexibility 3-4 days/week. May require occasional evening and weekend hours during legislative sessions or for program activities.
    • Student Loan Forgiveness: Brightpoint is an approved agency for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).
