Your mission

As Principal Engineer (m/f/x) at sevDesk you are going to play a pivotal role. With your pioneering mindset you are going to take ownership of the technical solutions in one of our domains and provide leadership and guidance in technical decision-making processes for the Engineering Management.

Here's how you'll make an impact:

  • You are going to be accountable for the domain's architecture, ensuring it seamlessly integrates with sevDesk's overall technology framework by employing state-of-the-art methodologies.

  • You are going to provide guidance and advice to the engineering director and engineering manager, assuming a leadership and consultative role in their decision-making processes.

  • You are going to collaborate with the chief architect, senior tech management, and the CTO to contribute to the overall architecture and tech strategy at sevDesk, including high-level technical decisions.

  • You are going to train, mentor, and coach senior engineers at sevDesk as well as promoting knowledge sharing and skill development within the team.

  • You are going to tackle software problems with visible risks, roadblocks, and constraints, such as legacy dependencies, data quality, compliance, architecture, or technology limitations.

  • You are going to possess an in-depth understanding of sevDesk's core product and architecture, acting as an ambassador for software solutions and offering support and mentorship to colleagues.


Your Qualifications / To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • You have 10+ years of relevant experience in software engineering with a proven track record and expert-level knowledge in specific technologies, including Kotlin, Spring, and React.js.

  • You are experienced with modern software architecture patterns and familiar with DevOps practices such as YBIYRI, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), and 24/7 operations.

  • You have the ability to lead the technical transition of our old PHP backend monolith into the new tech stack for the domain.

  • You are commited to advocate security best practices across the domain. You will also bring the ability to mentor other developers, host knowledge-sharing sessions, and act as an advocate for best tech practices, such as CI/CD, TDD, BDD, DDD, Design Patterns.

  • You are experienced with cloud-native architectures, with a preference for AWS (Amazon Web Services).

  • You have an agile mindset and the ability to balance business, individual, and team needs, providing a holistic approach to problem-solving and decision-making. Moreover, you posses strong verbal and written communication skills in English and German
