Position Summary
The Advancement Director will lead Native Movement fundraising efforts. This position will work collaboratively with the Executive Director, the Grants/Advancement Team, and Directors team to further Native Movement fundraising strategy, funder relations, and other related aspects of fundraising. This position will have a supervisory role and will be a part of the directors team at Native Movement. The ideal candidate will have an authentic understanding of Indigenous values, history, and the complexity and brilliance of contemporary Native communities. Additionally, ideal candidates will have fundraising experience and excellent verbal and writing communication skills. Professional development opportunities will be prioritized for this position.
Essential Job Functions
Advancement and Fundraising
Vision and implementation of fundraising strategies and objectives.
Collaboration with Executive Director and team directors in the development and execution of fundraising plans.
Review and oversight of fundraising documents – written materials, video production, etc – in collaboration with the Executive Director.
Management of Native Movement funder relations and prospective relations.
Oversight of grant funding cycles – from research to outreach plans, award, reporting, and close out – with grants support team.
Ensuring deadlines are met for funding cycles.
Oversight of donor database software, ensuring adequate usage of tools and applications.
Travel to Alaska and other locations may be required.
Staff Supervision
Day to day supervision of NM Advancement staff.
Potential combination of in-person and remote supervision.
Lead the recruitment, hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of Advancement staff according to the NM values and organizational goals.
Ensuring staff reports are complete and submitted in accordance with Native Movement policies.
Organizational Leadership
Serve as a member of the NM Directors team, participating in organization-wide input, coordination, and decision making as needed.
Attend Native Movement staff meetings and gatherings as related or as needed.
Support Community Affiliate Groups in developing critical grant proposals or fundraising plans as needed.

Supervision Received and Exercised
This position will report to the Executive Director. Additionally, this position supervises up to two Advancement staff members. Remote supervision may be required.
Location
This position is able to work remotely, with some travel in Alaska and occasional travel outside of Alaska. Remote locations must have the ability to access the internet and have adequate phone reception.

The physical demands of this position require the ability to occasionally remain in a stationary position, move or traverse throughout an office and event spaces. Occasionally must be able to transport objects through the office for various needs. Must be able to commute to and from an office and event space. Requires the ability to ascend a flight of stairs, several times a day. Additionally, the employee must be able to exchange information and ideas so that others will understand, receive and understand instructions, readily recall facts and details, and exercise independent judgment.
