Firely is a health technology scale-up with a passionate, open, and friendly culture. Our employees love working here, and we want to keep it that way as we continue our scale-up journey. That’s why we’re looking for a People & Culture Lead to help shape and professionalize our organization together with our People & Culture advisor.

In this role, you’ll have a strategic impact while staying hands-on when needed. Many foundations are already in place, but there’s plenty of room to further develop our People & Culture practices. You’ll be a key driver in keeping our people engaged and empowered, while also acting as a trusted sparring partner to the board. We are searching for someone who gives honest feedback at all levels.

What does this mean on a day-to-day basis?
  • Develop and implement people and culture strategies that align with the company's goals and values in both the Netherlands and the USA.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to the board on people-related matters, including talent management, organizational development, and employee relations.
  • Manage complex P&C cases, including performance management, disciplinary actions, and employee grievances, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes.
  • Enhance the employer branding of the company to attract and retain top talent.
  • Conduct interviews and intake sessions for candidates applying for senior-level positions, ensuring a positive candidate experience.
  • Attend board meetings once a month to provide updates on P&C initiatives, discuss strategic priorities, and address any people-related concerns.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for external parties in the Netherlands and the US, including HR partners, legal counsel, and other stakeholders.

Role Details:
  • Employment contract: temporary for one year, then permanent
  • 3 – 4 days a week
  • Hybrid (1 day a week in office)
  • You will be working closely with our P&C advisor
  • You report directly to the board and work closely with board members
Who are we looking for?
  • 5+ years of experience in HR/ P&C leadership roles, with a strong focus on strategic P&C management.
  • Extensive knowledge of P&C best practices, employment law, and regulatory requirements in the Netherlands. Knowledge of US culture and best practices is a huge advantage.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing people and culture strategies in an international, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to manage complex and sensitive P&C issues with professionalism and integrity.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Proficiency in English (both written and verbal); proficiency in Dutch is a plus.
What we offer:
  • Job: An exciting People & Culture job in an informal company where curiosity and innovation are encouraged
  • Compensation: A salary of EUR 5500 - 6000 based on 40 hours a week
  • Location: A modern, centrally located office in the heart of Amsterdam.
  • Time Off: 27 days of annual leave to enjoy your holidays and recharge.
  • Remote Work Support: A budget to create your ideal work-from-home setup.
  • Learning & Development: A growth package designed to support your ongoing professional development.
  • Tech Setup: A budget to ensure you have the right laptop and tools to excel in your role.

About us
Be part of the revolution in Health Informatics!

Firely is a digital healthcare scale-up. We specialize in software and services in healthcare and research. The company is one of the initiators of HL7 FHIR (pronounced “fire”), a new international standard for information exchange in healthcare. By making health data more accessible, Firely helps developers worldwide build apps that ultimately benefit patients.  Our customers are healthtech vendors, care providers, payers/insurance companies, governments, and health agencies in Europe and the US.

Firely is a group of software engineers, support engineers, FHIR consultants, and a commercial team. Our head office is based in Amsterdam (the Netherlands), our international team works from Europe and the US.

An important part of our activities is the involvement in the development of both the FHIR standard itself and FHIR tooling and open-source libraries. Besides that, we are the organizers of FHIR DevDays, and founding member of the FHIR Business Alliance (FHIRBall). We live and breathe FHIR, we talk FHIR to our computers, our colleagues, and even our friends which … frankly … drives them crazy! Working with Firely means working with FHIR, building software, and doing consultancy in an international team. It means FHIR DevDays. It means being part of the FHIR revolution. If you have the curiosity, passion, and collaborative spirit, work with us, and let's fire it up together!
