The Test Automation Platform team at Vanta (also known as “TAP”) builds the capability for customers to deeply integrate Vanta with the various tools and services that comprise a customer’s technology stack from HR to the cloud. This allows Vanta to collect and store that data, evaluate it against a customer’s security program, and surface any issues that need fixing so that the customer can get and stay compliant and secure. 

 

As the Senior Director of Engineering, Trustworthy Automation Platform (also known as “TAP”), you’ll be responsible for identifying and leading key strategic initiatives related to building the capability for customers to deeply integrate Vanta with the various tools and services that comprise a customer’s technology stack from HR to the cloud. This allows Vanta to collect and store that data, evaluate it against a customer’s security program, and surface any issues that need fixing so that the customer can get and stay compliant and secure. You will be growing our integrations platform, expanding the capabilities of our compliance and security evidence generation systems, managing our 300+ integrations ecosystem, and scaling our data which is at the core of Vanta’s business.

What you’ll do as a Senior Director of Engineering at Vanta:

  • Independently identify and realize strategies that deliver significant value to our customers and business.

  • Build a best-in-class engineering team. Coach, mentor and create an environment where your team can do their best work and deliver for the business. 

  • Guide technical strategy, ensuring that your teams are delivering long-term value aligned with Vanta’s business priorities.

  • Partner closely with your respective Design, Product and GTM counterparts to build best in class products and bring them to market. 

  • Drive and manage Vanta's engineering contractor strategy to align with business needs and operational goals.

  • Play an integral role in laying the foundation for Vanta’s engineering culture and strategy: building a modular, scalable architecture with clean interfaces, supporting iterative development with a focus on velocity and quality, and raising the bar for operational excellence to support a growing global customer base. Bonus is if you enjoy creating delightful experiences for customers in complex technical spaces.

How to be successful in this role:

  • 8+ years of engineering leadership experience, with deep experience working on complex products in a high growth environment

  • Experience leading engineering organizations of 50+ while managing directors, senior managers and/or line managers.

  • Passion for leading, coaching and building an inspired team through setting vision, unlocking potential, and driving compassionate accountability

  • Business acumen paired with an understanding of how to drive step change results through product innovation

  • Strong decision maker who effectively balances ambiguity, available data, speed, and quality

  • Effective communicator and story-teller. Able to influence cross functional stakeholders and at all levels

  • Operates at multiple altitudes, from developing vision and strategy to driving execution and being accountable for technical direction.

  • Have participated in developing or driving engineering-wide initiatives (recruiting processes, career frameworks, etc) in a prior role.

  • Has experience scaling and growing an organization.

Strong interest in learning about security, compliance and adjacent domains. Prior experience in the space a bonus

We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function, level, and country location, benchmarked against similar-stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate location, skills, depth of work experience, and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below. The base pay range for this position is $322,000 - $379,000. This role may also be eligible for commissions/bonus, equity, medical benefits, 401(k) plan, and other company perk programs.
