Specsavers began 40 years ago with the vision of two optometrists, Doug and Mary Perkins, who set out to provide best-value eyecare to everybody.
Their passion for optometry has led Specsavers to become the largest privately-owned optical group in the world, delivering high-quality, affordable optical and hearing care in 11 countries. And it continues to shape the lives and experience of around 41,000 colleagues who are developing their careers with us across the globe.
Please note this vacancy only applies to Optometrists who have qualified outside the UK and are currently undergoing, or have completed, the GOC’s route to registration for international applicants.
Specsavers is accepting applications from internationally qualified Optometrists who are interested in relocating to the UK. To apply for this position, you must have undergone the GOC’s application process for international applicants and have been directed to complete the pre-registration scheme.
As a pre-registration optometrist, you will be delivering eye examinations, dispensing spectacles and providing contact lens services to a consistently high clinical and customer focused standard. Under the guidance of a registered supervisor, you will be taking responsibility for your personal training and development as required by the College of Optometrists’ Scheme for Registration.
The pre-reg year can be a challenging time. Being assessed and examined while working full-time and getting used to the technology and the processes in store. But, it can also be incredibly rewarding. Making a difference to people’s lives by helping them to see better. Detecting an eye condition and saving sight or even a life as a result.
Our passion for developing pre-reg optometrists and the profession means that you will have access to support and training through our Pre reg Academy (PRA). This offers you a number of interactive courses throughout your pre-registration period to give you guidance and learning around your Scheme for Registration so that you can develop the skills and application of your knowledge to be more successful during this time period. These courses are designed and run by our own team of presenters and facilitators, many of whom are college assessors and examiners, so they have the skills and experience to help support you.
