Join us at Column Tax! We're making tax filing a simpler, more transparent process for U.S. taxpayers. We’re doing this by partnering with banking & fintech companies to offer powerful embedded tax products to their account holders.

We're backed by world-class investors including Bain Capital Ventures, Felicis Ventures, Core Innovation Capital, South Park Commons & Operator Partners. We were recently named one of TIME Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2024, and one of The World’s Top 250 Fintech Companies by CNBC.

Over the last three years, we’ve built out the foundation for the business, working with dozens of partners to launch embedded tax products. We’ve done that through a mix of founder-led sales & BizOps team members running implementations & managing partners. We’ve now grown beyond that, and we’re looking for our founding sales hire!


📈 The next phase of growth

It’s time for the next evolution of the business team at Column. This will include: running key partnership conversations from first call to deal close, launching new verticals and running our most strategic partner conversations.

We are hiring across two areas on go-to-market. One role is focused on sales (this role) and a second is focused on integration & post-sale partner management (here).


What does a founding sales role look like?
  • Spending lots of time with fintech companies, financial institutions & tax-focused companies to deeply understand their product strategy & ethos (in an authentic way)

  • Helping prospective partners think through where embedded Tax Filing can/could/should fit in their strategy

  • Working closely with prospective partners to build a business case & product plan for embedded tax products

  • Closing deals and running the sales cycle end-to-end

  • Spending time with our product team to map our internal roadmap to what prospects need to be successful

  • Translating learnings from specific deals into an overall Column Tax GTM strategy (What segments should we focus more on? Why?)

  • You will have the opportunity to shape the next phase of go-to-market at Column Tax


How do we measure success for the Sales/Go-to-Market team at Column Tax?
  • Do partners treat the Column team like a part of their internal product team when evaluating embedded tax?

  • Are we being genuinely helpful for partners that are evaluating embedded tax products (and working with Column Tax)?

  • Do partners rave about working with us?

  • Are our partners consistently delighted & surprised by the work we do for them?

  • Are we one of the best & most responsive teams they’ve ever worked with?

💻 About you:

This role is based in New York City, where the Column Tax business team is. We are looking for someone who is energized about working in-person at least 3 days a week.

We believe that people from a wide-range of backgrounds have the opportunity to be successful in this role.

  • You likely have one, or some combination, of the following:

    • Experience in Sales or Partnerships and are looking for a role where you can help shape a GTM organization from an early stage

    • Time working in Account Management or Solutions Engineering and want to make the jump to focus on new business sales/go-to-market work

    • Experience in Product and are looking to make the move to more of a “GM” type role at a B2B company

    • Experience in BizOps/Strategy and are looking to make the move into a sales-focused role

  • You genuinely enjoy sales + new partner launch work. You’re a master at listening & discovery. You know when to help partners and when to let them lead.

  • You are someone who has worked at an early-stage startup (or has specific experience launching/growing a new B2B product line at a larger company)

  • You haven’t seen a problem you weren’t excited to solve 😄 

  • You get excited about doing the little things needed to make a partnership successful
