Company Description

The Event Marketing Manager is responsible for setting up a strong National Event Marketing Program to establish Red Bull as the #1 functional beverage and innovative brand within the Japanese sports scene (athletes, opinion leaders, sports industry, agencies, media, federation, authorities, etc.). You will drive, deliver and progress Red Bull’s national event portfolio within sports, and also inspire, enable, challenge and encourage consumers within sport & fitness by delivering world-class events and activations. You will also identify new opportunities within sports in which we are currently active. To credibly and effectively communicate the functional benefits of Red Bull to sports-interested consumers via world-class events is also important role to increase consumption of Red Bull within sports and fitness occasions.

Job Description

LEAD, DRIVE & OWN THE EVENT MARKETING STRATEGY & TEAM 

  • Design an innovative and outstanding national event marketing program with a 3-year strategy.
  • Lead on the Event Marketing Business Planning Process.
  • Champion innovation and creativity within the Event Marketing Team to design new events and activations which drive towards both the Japanese and international business goals.
  • Ensure event concepts are relevant for regional and national consumer groups offering personal experiences. Use marketplace and consumer insights to support the creative direction.
  • Increase reach by expanding into untouched scenes and targeting new consumers.
  • Maintain focus on key consumer groups.
  • Ensure a good balance of events including participatory/spectator, mainstream/core, large/small, national/regional spread, different aspects of the brand personality and WOW events.
  • Define a strategically meaningful 3rd party event plan as well as an impactful Event Car Program into the overall Event Marketing plan.
  • Have an understanding of sustainability & data compliance within the respective assets.

 

CHAMPION WORLD-CLASS EXECUTION IN EVENTS AND PROJECTS

  • Drive Japan and international business objective delivery across all Red Bull Events.
  • Upskill and coach the Event Managers, Regional Marketing Specialists, agency staff and freelancers on the quality of delivery expected of a Red Bull Event including developing and initiating standardized tools to deliver this.
  • Ensure effective integration of Red Bull branding across all events according to international benchmarks and guidelines.
  • Drive the development of brand knowledge and understanding across the Event Team and wider Marketing Team.
  • Ensure relevant and functional product usage pre-, during and post-events across all events.
  • Ensure correct, credible integration of event partners across all events.
  • Responsible for the overall Event Marketing budget & specific Event budget working with the wider team and procurement to make event spending as efficient as possible.
  • Review all Red Bull-titled events with Project Managers to ensure learnings are addressed and best practice is always shared and replicated.
  • Provide insights and updates on all sports events to the Marketing Leadership Team and Management Team, when required.
  • Responsible for ensuring all Red Bull titled events are up to date on Red Bull Sportsnet (event calendar, factsheets, contacts etc.).

  • Lead a motivated and engaged event marketing team by challenging, encouraging, inspiring and enabling in the pursuit of excellence.
  • Embody and drive the company values in all that the Event Marketing Team does: get involved, go beyond, be open & honest, be yourself.
  • Act as the first point of contact for the Global Event Marketing Team. Establish strong and influential international relationships that promote Japan’s business objectives.
  • Champion the company’s strength-based people development philosophy.
  • Supervise, direct, support and develop Regional Marketing Specialists with their events.
  • Support the Partnership Team in sourcing appropriate 360-degree partners across all events.
  • Collaborate with other Red Bull teams to maximize event output including Media Network, Brand, Sales, Regional Marketing and Business Services.

 

PROJECT & BRAND MANAGEMENT OF EVENTS

  • To project manage both national and international Red Bull titled events from initial concept to realization e.g. Red Bull Box Cart Race, Red Bull Cliff Diving, Red Bull Flight Day.
  • Management of internal project teams including communications, moving image, sales, and advertising.
  • Management of external partners including production agencies, stakeholders and consultants.
  • Project review and analysis.
  • Brand guardian: effective integration of event branding.
  • Understand and ensure relevant product usage (beverage and media) across events to drive consumption of Red Bull every day.
  • Strong focus on product sales.
  • Integration and management of event partners, developing relationships to deliver 360-degree benefits to company objectives.

Qualifications

Educated to degree level in ideally a sports, business, economy or marketing-related area or equivalent to relevant work experience of five years.
Minimum three years’ experience in people management including the ability to lead, inspire and engage cross-functional teams.
Fluent in written and spoken Japanese and English.
Strong understanding of the marketing mix, including developing and managing projects, delivering activations and leveraging relationships for brand outcomes.
Experience in event production, sports events, or sports marketing agencies.
Genuine interest in and passion for sport.
Creative, innovative, and open-minded.
Highly motivated with a strong degree of initiative to work both as part of a team and autonomously.
