Banding: 7
Rate: £30 - £34 per hour
Location: St Peter's Hospital, Chertsey
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Until 28th February 2025
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week (part-time considered)

Opening Paragraph:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Locum Dietitian to join the Medical Dietitian Team at St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey. This role will involve working with a diverse range of medical specialties including Respiratory, Cardiac, Elderly Care, and Endocrinology, offering an excellent opportunity for those with a strong background in adult acute NHS settings. The post will involve an inpatient caseload, and the successful candidate will be required to work on-site. Remote working is not an option for this role. This position is funded until 28th February 2025, providing stability and the chance to make a significant impact on patient care.

Responsibilities:
As a Locum Dietitian, you will be responsible for providing high-level dietary assessments and recommendations for patients across various medical specialties. You will work independently to assess nutritional needs based on clinical indicators such as biochemistry, anthropometry, and other relevant physical parameters. You will provide specialist advice on nutrition support, including enteral feeding, and collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure that appropriate dietary plans are implemented for complex patients. You will manage a busy caseload, prioritize patients based on clinical needs, and provide education and guidance to patients, families, and other healthcare professionals. Your role will involve contributing to the development of care plans and helping to ensure the best nutritional outcomes for patients.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive post-qualification experience as a Dietitian, particularly within an adult acute NHS healthcare setting.
  • Specialist knowledge and experience in enteral nutrition and nutrition support.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of clinical dietetics and its practical application in an acute hospital environment.
  • Ability to work independently with complex cases and manage a busy caseload effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to advise and collaborate with the wider MDT on treatment plans.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
