Our client is seeking a dedicated PR Director to join their team on a freelance basis. This role is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to contribute their expertise in the science and research field. The PR Director will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including proactive and reactive pitching, securing bylines, and writing technical press releases.
Key Responsibilities:
Proactively and reactively pitch to popular science and trade publications
Secure bylines, leveraging a deep understanding of what will and won't gain coverage
Write technical press releases, translating complex scientific concepts into accessible language
Conduct media outreach based on new scientific research in areas such as epigenetics, Neurodegenerative Science, Metabolism/Nutrition, and Structural Biology
Attend weekly status calls with our client
The ideal candidate will have director-level PR experience, preferably within the science/research field. They should possess strong writing skills, particularly in crafting technical press releases, and have a proven track record in both proactive and reactive pitching. The ability to secure bylines and a keen understanding of what will and won't gain coverage is essential.
This role offers flexibility in terms of working hours, with the expectation that the candidate will be available between 9-5 pm. The PR Director will report directly to the president and will work closely with another PR manager who possesses strong historical knowledge of the client's account. This position is 100% remote, providing the opportunity to work from anywhere.
