Advancing Health Professionals (AHP): a Peace Corps Response program, is seeking a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as a Pediatric Nurse Educator at the University of Dodoma (UDOM), School of Nursing and Public Health without the provision of direct medical care to patients or clinical supervision of students. The position requires a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Nursing, current nursing licensure and at least two years pediatric clinical nursing experience. Desired qualifications include experience in pediatric in-patient nursing or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, prior teaching, mentoring, and facilitation experience at the university level, prior experience in low resource health care with focus on maternal and child health, strong computer and technology skills.
UDOM currently has nursing programs at the Diploma, Bachelor, Master’s and PhD levels. There are approximately 1500 students with different cohorts with about 900 students enrolled in the bachelor’s program. There has been a significant focus on strengthening UDOM’s maternal child health education capacity and service delivery for BSc and MSc candidates.
The PCRV will collaborate with faculty to strengthen and co-teach/co-facilitate evidence-based pediatric didactics content, collaborate with faculty to strengthen and co-teach/co-facilitate simulation/skills lab pediatric content, and collaborate with faculty to strengthen pediatric course materials and student assessment for BScN and MScN Pediatric candidates. PCRVs are expected to report on their activities through Peace Corps reporting tools twice during their service.
Peace Corps Response established its "Advancing Health Professionals" program in 2019. Response Volunteers serving with the AHP program seek to improve health outcomes on a societal level by providing high-level, specialized service in the health sector. AHP projects include health professions educators, health systems strengthening, service delivery improvement, and other non-clinical interventions that enhance the quality of healthcare.
Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Tanzania together as a group. While the whole group's departure dates could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
