As the preeminent international service organization of the United States, the Peace Corps sends Americans with a passion for service abroad to work with communities and create lasting change. Volunteers develop sustainable solutions to address challenges in Education, Health, Economic Development, Agriculture, Environment and Youth Development. Through their Peace Corps experiences, Volunteers gain a unique cultural understanding and a lifelong commitment to service that positions them to succeed in today's global economy. Since President John F. Kennedy established the Peace Corps in 1961, more than 240,000 Americans of all ages have served in 142 countries worldwide.
The Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) in Vanuatu has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as a Data Processing and Analysis Support Officer. The National Examinations VANSTA and PILNA have collected assessment data that needs to be processed and analyzed to support decision-making about where the ministry can increase resources or focus on strengthening teaching literacy and numeracy. The ministry seeks to use the data to highlight model schools and best practices with deeper analysis and seeks guidance to augment understanding of what the data is telling them about student learning.
The PCRV will support the ministry in enhancing the system and structure already in place where schools upload the test results to each of the 6 provinces and then those results get consolidated at a national ministry level. The PCRV will co-design an appropriate and accessible reporting system, co-train staff on analytical interpretation of results, and co-facilitate a diagnostic analysis to highlight model schools and consider effective learning environments.
Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Vanuatu together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
