What you’ll do

The Software Engineering Lead drives the development and scaling of a key technology solution for the firm. This role requires experience in servant leadership, technical expertise, and project management. You will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of engineers, acting as the subject matter expert on technology matters, and shipping high-quality code and solutions.

The Software Engineering Lead is a Full Time Employee located in Buenos Aires.

Key responsabilities: 

  • Lead and mentor the engineering team
    • Provide guidance to team members on matters ranging from technical delivery to career development
    • Foster skill development and knowledge sharing
    • Ensure efficient project execution and consistent delivery of project deadlines
  • Enhance technical expertise and drive high quality code
    • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) on technology matters, resolving blockers in a timely manner
    • Drive the creation of high-quality code through modern software engineering principles, guidelines, processes, re-usable tools, and technologies to maximize efficiency and accelerate engineering productivity
    • Stay updated with the latest JavaScript and PHP frameworks, and ensure their effective use in projects
    • Stay current with the latest technological advancements and best practices in software engineering and emerging technologies. Drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Foster effective collaboration and requirements analysis
    • Work closely with Product, Design, QA, and users to deliver the right solution
    • Accurately translate user needs into technical requirements
    • Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure a shared understanding of product priorities and objectives.
    • Facilitate effective communication within the team, ensuring all members are aligned
  • Effective project management
    • Manage sprint work effectively, ensuring task creation, estimation, and execution are done in a timely manner
    • Achieve consistent and performant engineering delivery metrics (sprint completion rate, sprint predictability, etc)
    • Ensure all project documentation is up-to-date and accessible to all team members

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in computer science or related field
  • 3+ years in direct engineering management role
  • 5+ years of application development experience using js and Laravel
  • Strong computer science fundaments in data structures, algorithms, automated testing, object-oriented programming, performance complexity, and implications of computer architecture on software performance
  • Experience leading high performing teams on complex apps
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum)
  • Excellent communication, written and verbal, in English. Proficiency in other languages is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders and influence decision-making; adept at translating complex technical details to diverse audiences
  • Desire to actively engage in geographically dispersed teams
  • Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday

Additional qualifications
  • Experienced, effective, and empathetic engineering people management
  • Effective in performant engineering delivery for users and stakeholders
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and PHP, as well as reactivity-based JS frameworks and PHP frameworks
  • Strong collaboration skills with other teams (Product, Design, QA) and users iteratively improving the platform
  • Product lens to enable understanding of user needs to translate into technical requirements
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional spoken and written communication skills in English and Spanish
Preferred qualifications
  • Knowledge of table and charting libraries, responsive design concepts, SQL server
