Job Title: Vice President, Head of Oncology and Hematology – CRO Services

Job Overview: The Vice President, Head of Oncology and Hematology, plays a pivotal role in leading and shaping the strategic direction and operational excellence of the company's clinical trials within the oncology and hematology sectors. This includes spearheading initiatives that set the standard in the industry, driving global expansion in these key therapeutic fields—including ventures into gene therapy research—enhancing regional sales opportunities, and aligning global project strategies to ensure the company achieves its growth and profitability targets. The role involves overseeing departmental functions, providing leadership, mentorship, and advocating for the adoption of industry-leading practices. In collaboration with department leaders worldwide, the Vice President ensures cohesive efforts that contribute to the company's overall success. This position is also responsible for championing the integration of best practices across the board, participating in project presentations, and facilitating the seamless execution of corporate strategies and objectives.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Business Development

  • As the subject matter expert (SME), work closely with global BD leaders to support sales and marketing objectives.
  • Ensures further customer diversification by providing senior-level intelligence and contacts for customer-base development.
  • Participates in prospective customer meetings and presentations to ensure Company is represented and presented well.

Global Operations Strategy

  • Drive global initiatives in the areas of o ncology, hematology and gene therapy studies.
  • Possesses the experience and credentials to effectively lead and guide international project/operations planning and strategy development for new opportunities.
  • Works with global functional leaders and external resources to support project strategy and operations plan development.
  • Effectively communicates, verbally and in writing
  • Ensures global clinical operation services are delivered within contracted terms and at or above customer expectations by working with global functional leaders.
  • Maximizes project profitability through superior customer service, effective and prompt communications, and follow-up on all pending matters with the customer.

Operational Oversight

  • Maintaining oversite and provide direction on existing and newly awarded studies in the areas of o ncology, hematology and gene therapy studies.
  • Provides global associates with daily guidance, leadership and overall support on issues relating to projects, communication, human resources, revenue enhancement, procedures, systems applications, and executing processes to meet customer needs.
  • In conjunction with global functional leaders, and as appropriate, coaches, trains and mentor’s associates and provides career development opportunities though training, and quality management activities.
  • Utilizes superior communications skills to reinforce corporate culture, motivate staff and develop effective working relationships with customers, within functions, project teams, and across regions.
  • Ensures directives, rules and procedures are communicated to all regional associates

Organizational Leadership

  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and other applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • Reviews analysis of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine progress toward stated business development goals and objectives.
  • Reviews and evaluates P&L performance and establish short-term goals to address any budgetary shortfalls.
  • Serves as a senior leader within Company matrix structure and works within that structure to support global organizational needs, and to assist in the evolution of the global structure as the company grows and matures.
  • Collaborates with global functional leaders to develop continuous improvement methodology in key areas of service profit and growth, and use key performance indicators to drive and quantify cost optimization while maintaining customer quality and service.
  • Consults with and apprises global functional/executive leaders of important issues, customer and operational concerns, sales efforts, personnel matters, and all commitments obligating the company.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Carries out oversite responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Provide guidance to all staff as it pertains to the duties and responsibilities in this role.

Job Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor degree required and MSc, MA, MS, MBA, or PhD preferred

Experience

  • Minimum Twenty (20) plus years in drug development
  • 15 plus years of experience in Project Management, designing and directing global projects, Business Development, and/or customer relationship management as it pertains to this position.
  • 10 plus years of experience managing similar work in the areas of oncology and Hematology.
  • 5 plus years of experience managing similar work in the areas of gene therapy and stem cell research.
  • Experience in a CRO, preferably in similar position, preferred.
