MARSHALLTOWN is seeking an experienced Strategic Accounts Manager – Concrete/Masonry, reporting to the Director of US Sales.  This position is responsible for developing and maintaining sales activity within the concrete and masonry category for all of US Sales. Will work directly with merchant teams and coordinate all selling-related responsibilities and activities.   This role will provide input to the development of annual and long-range sales/marketing plans as well as strategic plans pertaining to advertising, sales promotions, merchandising concepts, etc. as they relate to profitable program maintenance and selling major accounts. The role will work with sales management in the US Sales channel to help launch and execute those plans through our sales representative network across the US Sales footprint.  The Strategic Accounts Manager should have a “customer first” mentality while delivering company sales objectives, profitability goals, and striving to optimize efficiencies within the concrete and masonry sales category.

In addition, this role will be responsible for developing long-lasting and amicable relationships with key stakeholders for the strategic accounts in this category.  The incumbent is expected to possess a deep understanding of account processes and systems (i.e. their approach to business) and tailor MARSHALTOWN’s business processes to interact with these stakeholders effectively and efficiently at all levels of the relationship.  This includes, among other things, detailed sales reporting and insight generation, new item listings, sales forecasting, inventory fulfilment, merchandising support, and all daily maintenance processes.

  • Takes lead role in developing the sales strategy for the concrete and masonry sales category that will maintain a best-in-class program for the customer and MARSHALLTOWN.
  • This position is responsible for managing and working with the marketing team to identify growth or margin improvement opportunities.
  • Creates a national sales plan with input from the Director of US Sales and implement in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
  • Achieve or surpass sales expectations.
  • Develop relationships with the buying teams and support teams that facilitates trust and open dialogue.
  • Procure those internal resources and apply against new business opportunities and projects. Develop and maintain internal professional relationships.
  • Provide ongoing category sales analysis and metrics on overall business, new product/categories, and special programs to Senior Management.
  • Coordinate and attend shows, markets, conventions, & other customer events.
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to requests from buyers and other stakeholders internally and externally for information and assistance.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education/experience
    • Good understanding of concrete and masonry industry and the workings of the various retailers in the US Sales channel.
    • Proven account manager with a minimum 4 years of sales experience and a minimum of 3 years calling on strategic distributor accounts, required.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products and CRM systems.
  • Proven ability to negotiate Rebates, SBA’s, Price Increases and Fines, required.
  • Strong motivation and interpersonal skills required
  • An advanced level of creative skills to manage a variety of customer needs and asks
  • Must apply critical thinking skills to determine best strategic approach
  • Ability to ensure effective time management for your responsibilities
  • Analytical mindset and apply to sales forecasting, budgeting, and POS
  • Ability to present to Senior Leadership at strategic accounts and MARSHALLTOWN
  • Develop collaborative monthly sales forecasts with the Accounts for review with management
  • Weekly & Quarterly reviews of overall metrics and activities for this category
  • Proven track record of achieving sales and margin objectives.
  • Able to develop and implement large-scale sales programs.
  • Strong selling and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Superior planning and project management skills.
  • Able to work in a team environment but at the same time be a self-starter.

 

Travel

  • Position is based out of Marshalltown, IA facility. This is not a remote position.
  • Attend Industry Related Trade Shows
  • Travel to various strategic accounts and territory reviews with sales management
  • Total travel 30-40%
